Mission Statement

Through the power of education, research, and individual action, the Grand Valley Audubon Society strives to preserve a diversity of habitats for birds and other wildlife, and a sustainable, healthy environment for Western Colorado, the nation and the world.

Grand Valley Audubon Society is an active environmental organization committed to education, political action, scientific research, and habitat preservation. GVAS, originally called The Audubon Society of Western Colorado, was founded in 1972 as a non-profit, local chapter of the National Audubon Society. We presently have over 400 members and encourage all who share our concern for wildlife conservation to become members. Grand Valley Audubon believes stewardship of the natural world begins with awareness, understanding, and appreciation of birds and other wildlife species, their habitats, and their connection to people.
