YOU ARE INVITED

This coming Saturday, May 10, 2008 is the date for out Annual Spring Bird Count.  Each year since 1993 Grand Valley Audubon Society has had teams of birders in the field covering all parts of Mesa County to count the number of species and how many birds of each species can be seen in the County on this one day.  Our efforts are part of the International Migratory Bird Day, which takes place throughout many states.

No experience is needed to join one of the teams.  This is a very good opportunity to learn more about birding and to see many species as the spring migration gets underway.  When there are more people on each team it means that more birds will be seen and counted.  You might not know the species you are looking at but the team leader will know and you will learn in the process.

YOU WILL ENJOY PARTICIPATING!

If you know of others who might like to get into birding this is the time to invite them.  Anyone can participate and you only have to call one of the leaders listed below to say you would like to participate.  Each team will meet at a time and place decided by the party leader.  Most teams will be active for the whole day and you will need to bring a lunch, water and sunscreen.

We will have 13 Teams covering various parts of the county and each team will be led by an experienced birder.  Here are the areas and the party leaders:
