Edward Moran, DMD, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on the morning of
January 12, 2009 at his home. He was born January 23, 1942 in Butte, Montana
to Leo J. Moran and Helen Doran Moran. Tom attended Carroll College in
Helena, Montana to study Chemistry and Political Science and the University
of Oregon Dental School in Portland, Oregon where he received his Doctorate
of Medical Dentistry. Near the end of his studies, he met his future wife,
Linda Jean Halvorson Moran on a blind date. Four months later within the
span of a week, he graduated, passed his dental board and they married,
leaving Portland to enter the military and start a family in Anchorage,
Alaska. Tom, Linda and daughter, Barbara moved to Grand Junction in 1971
where he began practicing dentistry. Tom loved dentistry and his patients.
Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, birding, reading and painting. He
was an active member of the Audubon Society, volunteered as a dentist at
Marillac Clinic, served on the board of directors for Rocky Mountain HMO for
25 years, and was a past president and examiner for the Central Regional
Dental Testing Service. He also served on the Colorado State Board of Dental
Examiners for several years. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter,
Barbara and her husband, Frank; sons, Michael and Scott; mother-in-law,
Maxine Baichley; brother, James Moran and his wife, Colleen; nieces, Helen,
Mary, Christine, and Katie; and nephew Brian. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Leo and Helen, his uncle, Father Edward Moran, and his sister,
Eileen. Visitation will be from 4 - 6:00 p.m., Thursday on January 15, 2009
at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at Saint Joseph's
Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Friday on January 16, 2009. Interment will be
in Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. Memorial contributions
