Spring Count 2019
In celebration of International Migratory Bird Day on Saturday May 11, we are conducting our annual Spring Count in the Grand Valley and surrounding areas. There are 12 count areas, each led by experienced birders. Description of each area, leaders and leader contact info are listed below. Please register for the area you'd like to count and contact the area leader for information on when and where to meet. Happy Spring Birding!
AREA 1: We will be counting birds in the Mack Area: Utah State line to 13 Rd, north to County line, Rabbit Valley, Brewster Ridge, Highline St Park. The area leader is Peter Robinson: 970-250-0409 or [email protected] 
AREA 2: We will be counting birds in the Fruita-Loma Area: Fruita from 13 Rd to 23 Rd, Big Salt Wash, Fruita St Park, Skipper’s Island, N. Fruita Desert to County line. The area leader is Doug Diekman:  970-312-4518 or [email protected]
AREA 3: We will be counting birds in Grand Junction: E. of 23 Rd/Redlands Pkwy to 30 Rd, Grand Junction & Walter Walker State Wildlife Areas and Connected Lakes St Park.

AREA 4: We will be count birds in the Clifton/Palisade area: Clifton30 Rd to 42 Rd, Corn Lake St Park; West Lake Wildlife Area, Clifton Sewage Ponds, Clifton Marsh, Palisade. The area leader is Mike Campbell: 970-846-8517 or [email protected].
AREA 5: We will be counting birds in the DeBeque Area: Plateau Creek from I-70 to De Beque Cutoff, Greater De Beque Triangle and town.  The area leaders are Paul & Fran Didier:  970-242-8643 or [email protected]
AREA 6: We will be counting birds in the Upper Plateau Valley area from junction Hwy 65 & 330 to Colbran, Jerry Ck Reservoirs, Molina, area S. of Hwy 330 and East Mesa County Above Collbran including Vega State Park to County Line (if accessible.) The area leader is Kathleen McGinley: 970-712-0980 or [email protected]
